Kashmir: BJP district president, father, brother shot dead in Bandipora

GURUTTOPURNA: Suspected militants shot dead BJP’s district president for Bandipora in Jammu and Kashmir, Waseem Bari, his father and brother on Wednesday evening. The incident has sparked nationwide outrage.

According to reports, Bari was attacked outside his residence at Muslimabad in Bandipora in north Kashmir. His father, Bashir Ahmed, and brother, Umar Bari, were also injured in the attack. All three were declared brought dead at the hospital.

According to ‘The Week’, The attack took place close to a police station near Bari’s residence.

On June 10, militants shot dead Ajay Pandita alias Bharti, a 40-year-old Kashmiri Pandit sarpanch, in south Kashmir’s Anantnag. Pandita was representing Lukbawan village in Larkipora. He was affiliated with the Congress.

The killing was widely condemned by political leaders across the country.
